Landmark College has an immediate opening for a Senior Academic Researcher (SAR), reporting to the Director of the Landmark College Institute of Research and Training (LCIRT). LCIRT's mission is to pioneer LD research, discover innovative strategies and practices, and improve teaching and learning outcomes for students and educators. LCIRT’s expertise lies in a range of topics related to learning disabilities, such as Universal Design, executive function, dyslexia, dyscalculia, student advocacy, and disability documentation.
The SAR is a research scientist responsible for defining, proposing, and leading research in the learning sciences, and for creating and delivering evidence-based professional development offerings to educators and other stake-holders, both nationally and globally. Specifically, the position requires the ability to:
· Conduct research projects and interventions to improve learning, especially for students with LD, ADHD, and ASD.
· Seek extramural funding by identifying and writing grant proposals to funding agencies.
· Develop and deliver professional development that translates research into practice.
· Teach traditional and online/blended courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
· Supervise and mentor undergraduate research assistants and nurture opportunities to increase the number of students with LD, ADHD, and ASD who pursue research.
This position requires a Master’s degree, with Ph.D. strongly preferred, in a field related to the learning sciences including educational research, Computer Science, Data Science, Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, or a closely related field, with at least 3-5 years of experience. Candidate must have a portfolio that demonstrates capacity to pursue grant funding, manage projects, and handle simultaneous competing priorities. Candidate must be able to communicate information to a range of professional audiences effectively. Must be willing to travel and exhibit flexibility in scheduling beyond standard work hours and days. Prior extramural funding is strongly preferred. Expertise in collecting and analyzing EEG, fNIRS, and eye tracking data is highly desired. Experience with data mining, machine learning, or advanced statistical methodologies is a major plus. Direct experience in teaching and client consulting preferred. Experience working with students with LD, ADHD, and/or ASD is a plus.
